Student Accounts and Billing

Student account information related to college charges, financial aid, and payments is accessible at any time through the secure online system OPUS. Student account bills can only be accessed through the OPUS system. No paper bills will be mailed.

The Guest Access feature in OPUS can be used to grant other persons access to view billing statements and make payments on a student's account.

How do I view registration and monthly bills?

Student account bills can only be accessed online thru OPUS.  No paper bills will be mailed.

I am not the bill payer for my student account.  Can I give another person bill payer access?

Guest Access in OPUS can be used to grant other persons access to view or make payments on a student's account.  The student administers the access and can determine what level of privileges each guest has.

How do I set up email reminders for registration and monthly bills?

While students are always notified of registration and monthly bills by email, the bill payer email address field in OPUS allows an additional email address to be entered for bill payer notification of registration and monthly bills.  If you are not the bill payer for your student account, it is strongly encouraged that you enter the email address of your bill payer.

What is the Emory Payment Plan?

Oxford College offers a payment plan, which is administered via Nelnet, a third party vendor. The payment plan allows you to pay tuition and eligible fees in installments per term.

How do I enroll in the Payment Plan?

You can now enroll in the payment plan using the "Enroll in Payment Plan" link in your OPUS menu.

If you have a question about the payment plan, call 770-784-8325.

Application of Aid to Account

Financial aid is shown as a credit on the preterm registration bill in OPUS. When the proper documentation for each award is received, funds will be applied directly to the student's account. If you are a financial aid recipient and your bill does not reflect anticipated aid, please review the "To- Do List" in OPUS for the status of your financial aid file.

All Title IV recipients must authorize Emory University to apply their Federal funds (in excess of tuition, fees, and contracted room and board) to any other charges incurred on their student account, including minor previous balances.

All recipients have the right to rescind this authorization at any time by contacting Student Financial Services. This may affect the amount of credit balance refunded to the student.

Refunds

Students who have financial aid in excess of charges will have a refund issued.  To expedite refunds, set up direct deposit in the Finances menu in OPUS If you are not set up for direct deposit, your refund check will be mailed.  In this case, it is important to ensure that the Oxford post office box or local address is current in OPUS.

For questions about financial aid, refer to the financial aid "To Do List" items in OPUS or call the Oxford College Financial Aid staff at 770-784-8328.

Unless specifically enrolled in the Nelnet Payment Plan, full payment of the student account balance is due by the date indicated on the registration bill. For delinquent Nelnet Payment Plan installments, a 1.5 percent finance charge will be assessed per month on any past due balance.

It is the policy of Emory University that a student is not permitted to register for a subsequent semester until all past due financial obligations are paid. A delinquent account balance will result in cancellation of the student's schedule. The University may not furnish transcripts or diplomas if a student is delinquent in paying student account or loan obligations. An account deemed uncollectible by the University may be reported to a credit bureau and referred to a collection agency.

My student account has a financial hold.  Where can I learn more about this?

It is the policy of Emory University that a student is not permitted to register for a subsequent semester until all past due financial obligations are paid. When a student account has an overdue balance, an indicator is placed on the OPUS account. In addition to preventing future registration and the release of transcripts,  this indicator may also deny access to University services.  If your student account has a financial hold, view the "Holds and Clearances" section on your OPUS homepage for details.

How can I have the hold removed?

Once the financial obligation has been fulfilled, the "Holds and Clearances" section on your OPUS homepage will be updated overnight to reflect the payment.

There are several ways to make a payment on your student account:

  • The quickest way to make a payment is through the secure online system, OPUS.
  • Mail payment to our office address:

    Oxford College
    Attn: Student Accounts & Billing
    Seney Hall, Room 107
    810 Whatcoat St.
    Oxford, Georgia 30054

  • Pay conduct fine(s) by credit card here
  • If you are using an international bank, pay by wire transfer or Western Union.

Oxford College does not accept credit cards for student account payments.

Emory offers two payment options for our international students. Emory has partnered with Flywire in addition to Western Union Business Solutions(WUBS) to provide you with easy and secure methods for sending international payments.

Both options will allow you to:

  • Track your payment from start to finish
  • Pay from any country and any bank
  • Save on bank fees and exchange rates
  • Receive peace of mind with dedicated multilingual customer support

To get started with using either option, sign into OPUS and select the Financial Account tile > Make A Payment > Foreign Currency Payments.

Oxford College Financial Services has two Notary Publics on staff, both located in Seney Hall: Room 107 and Room 216.  A Notary Public is a public servant appointed by state government to witness the signing of important documents and administer oaths.

*Please bring picture identification and DO NOT sign documents in advance.

All returned checks are automatically re-deposited once. If the check still fails to clear, a $25 returned check fee is assessed to the student's OPUS account. If the NSF check is for an initial registration payment, the student's class schedule may be canceled.  After three NSF checks, the student/parent will be required to make further payments with cash, cashier's check, or money order.

Payments through the OPUS system can only be made from standard checking and savings accounts. Credit card checks or checks associated with a line of credit will not be accepted. If an online payment fails to clear due to NSF or Account Not Found, a $25 returned check fee is posted to the student account, and the attempted payment is reversed. An enrollment hold may also be placed on the student account until the balance has been paid.

When are the payment deadlines?

As a general rule, payments for any semester are due on the first day of class.  The exact payment deadline for each term is shown on the registration bill generated in OPUS five weeks prior to the start of the term.  If enrolling during the late registration period or drop/add session, payment is due on that day.  Payment due dates are not extended for students who are admitted late.

In cases where financial aid has not yet posted to the student account as "anticipated aid," the student is responsible for payment of outstanding tuition and fees. Once financial aid posts to the student account, a refund will be issued if the aid exceeds the balance due. For questions about financial aid, refer to the financial aid "To Do List" items in OPUS or call the Oxford College Financial Aid staff at 770-784-8328.

When is my payment considered late?

Prior to the first day of class, either full payment of the account balance or the first installment of the Nelnet Payment Plan is due by the date indicated on the registration bill in OPUS. To enroll in the Nelnet Payment Plan, the first installment is due as indicated on the registration bill. A 1.5 percent finance charge will be assessed per month on any past due balance.

A student may completely withdraw from Oxford College with permission from the appropriate school dean. Unofficial withdrawal results in 100 percent forfeiture of tuition. When officially withdrawing, the student may be eligible for a refund of payments depending upon the date of withdrawal. Refunds are only processed for complete withdrawal. Financial aid awards that pay part or all of the student charges are prorated accordingly. Refunds for federal (Title IV) aid recipients will be prorated in accordance with federal regulations. No refunds are issued until all semester charges are paid in full.

Cancellation

To cancel registration or withdraw from the college at any time, a student must secure written permission from the dean or the dean's designee; otherwise, honorable dismissal cannot be granted.  A student who withdraws for reasons of illness on the recommendation of the Oxford College Student Health or Counseling Center receives grades of "W" in all courses for that semester and must have approval from the Oxford College Student Health or Counseling Center before readmission to the college.

Withdrawal

An honorable withdrawal from the college after the first five weeks results in grades of W in courses the student is passing and WF in courses the student is failing at the time of the withdrawal.  A student who has been accused of an honor code violation may not withdraw from the course.

Refunds

Refunds of tuition are only partial.  A student may cancel registration through the seventh calendar day after the first day of classes, in which case the deposit and application fee are forfeited.  After the last day for cancellation of registration, a student may withdraw from the college with appropriate permissions.  The forfeiture for withdrawal increases progressively, but is not less than the forfeiture for cancellation.

The schedule for forfeitures of tuition is as follows:

  • During the second week of the semester, 20 percent of tuition charges
  • During the third week of the semester, 40 percent of tuition charges
  • During the fourth week of the semester, 60 percent of tuition charges
  • During the fifth week of the semester, 80 percent of tuition charges

There is no tuition refund after the fifth week of the semester.  No refund is given if only part of the work is dropped after the last day for approved course-schedule changes specified in the academic calendar.
