Performance Management
Steven Covey suggests that we "begin with the end in mind." The goal of the performance management process is to link individual and team goals to mission of Emory University and Oxford College. To know how well they are doing, employees need to receive regular feedback from their supervisor coach. Providing constructive feedback not only helps to solve problems, but can also work to prevent potential problems from growing to the point where they have a negative impact on others and on the organization. Conducting frequent performance reviews allow the supervisor and the employee to provide constructive feedback in a way that builds openness and mutual respect, and promotes problem solving and learning. Performance management is a continuous process.
Remember to "drive on a two-way street". Performance reviews can often be one-sided, but this process should be a time to exchange information. The employee and supervisor should work together to agree on performance expectations, establish milestones, and check-in with each other frequently.
