Sexual Assault Response
Sexual Assault Response & Prevention Resources
Oxford College is home to an intentional community of support, respect, and empowerment. Every person within our community plays a pivotal role in keeping one another safe. Oxford has created a system of support for keeping students informed about sexual violence prevention and intervention, as well as offering empowerment for those students dealing with sexual violence.
Advocacy & Resources
Oxford Sexual Assault Advocacy & Prevention
If a client is impacted by sexual violence, they can speak to a Response Advocate to better understands the options available, in addition to resources needed immediately or at any point after an assault. While required to report some information, in compliance with Title IX requirements, your privacy will be maintained and you retain decision-making on whether to file a formal report. Contact Alex Miller-Knaack, Oxford's Coordinator of Student Support, and let her know you'd like to speak to her, in her capacity as the Assault Response Advocate related to a sexual assault or any form of interpersonal violence.
If a student is directly (or indirectly) impacted by sexual violence, that student can speak to any of the counselors at the Center for Counseling and Wellbeing for confidential support. Even if you are not interested in ongoing counseling, they also serve as Sexual Assault Advocates on the Oxford College campus for support, guidance, and resources. Simply call 770-784-8394 and let the receptionist know you would like to speak to an Assault Response Advocate.
24/7 Crisis Hotline Assistance
We also partner with a community organization, The Day League, to provide 24/7 crisis hotline assistance (and forensic/SANE exams) to students in need of support, transportation to hospital, post-exposure prophylaxis, assistance in filing police reports, individual and group counseling, and more.
