Immunizations

What are my required immunizations?

All new and returning students are required to be 100% compliant with Oxford College of Emory University immunization requirements.

Required Immunizations:

  • 2 doses of MMR (or 2 doses of individual vaccines)
  • Tdap or Td (within last 10 years)
  • 3 doses of Hepatitis B
  • 2 doses of Varicella
  • 1 dose of Meningococcal ACWY (one dose on or after 16th birthday)

Although not an immunization, students are required to complete Tuberculosis (TB) screening as listed on the immunization form.

Incoming students should carefully review the Emory immunization requirements below and complete the electronic immunization form available on your Student Health Portal.

Does Oxford College allow exemptions?

Medical Exemptions

If you have already received an approved medical exemption from Student Health Services, you do not need to do anything further. If you or your healthcare provider feel that you cannot comply with any of Emory’s immunization requirements (including medical contraindications to specific vaccinations), please have your healthcare provider complete a Medical Exemption Form and submit it to your Patient Portal.

Religious Exemptions

To apply for a vaccination exemption due to a sincerely held religious belief, please follow the steps below:

  • Download and print the Religious Exemption Form provided.
  • Complete all sections of the Religious Exemption Request Form. Include any requested explanations, supporting documentation, or required signatures.
  • Submit the form through your Patient Portal.

Please note that the Tuberculosis (TB) Screening Requirement cannot be declined.

For information about specific vaccinations, please see the CDC vaccine information statements.

Can I get my shots at the Student Health Services office?

Student Health Services offers all required immunizations.

I have moved many times and cannot find my immunization records. What should I do? I know I have had all my shots but I do not have the records because my doctor is retired/deceased. What should I do?

You can check with your high school and see if they have a copy on file, you can be revaccinated or you can have serologic testing for all the antigens (a blood test). The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports there is no evidence that adverse reactions are increased when these vaccines are given to a person who is already immune.

Must I have all the Required for Enrollment immunizations verified by a healthcare provider?

Yes.

Where can I get the immunizations?

Before coming to Oxford, you may receive the immunizations from your local health department or a private physician. Oxford College Student Health Services maintains a stock of all required student immunizations . If you begin a multi-dose vaccination series prior to arrival at Oxford, you may complete the series at the Oxford Student Health Services. Immunizations are available also at the Emory Student Health Services Immunization Clinic (Atlanta campus) or the Newton County Health Department (locally). There is a fee for these vaccines.

How will I know if the SHS has received my EMR?

You should check your OPUS "To Do List" to confirm that all your health documents have been received and that all immunization requirements have been met.
