Room Selection

The housing room selection process for the Fall 2024 - Spring 2025 academic year will occur in early April. Returning students are strongly encouraged to complete their Oxford College Second Year Housing Application by the deadline. Please check back in the fall for more information about the room selection process.

The following are Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) we received about room selection process and assignments. Please review this information. If you have a question that is not answered below, please send the question to RES@emory.edu.

The Oxford Housing room selection process for rising second-year students will take place in early April 2025. More information regarding the room selection process will be available in the fall. The process will take place on your MyHousing page at myhousing.emory.edu.

The room selection process time information will be displayed on your MyHousing page in early April 2025. Selection time frames will be announced after Spring Break.

All students with a complete and submitted Oxford Second-Year housing application will receive a room selection process time by early April 2025. If you failed to receive a room selection process time and you submitted a complete housing application, send an email to RES@emory.edu.

Yes, all students must complete a housing application. A commuter is a student who resides at the primary, permanent address of a parent/legal guardian within 30 miles of the Oxford College campus.

Once the housing application is complete, students must also complete the commuter request application. The commuter status request application will open after the room selection process has taken place. Our office will follow up with all students requesting commuter status as applications are received.

Incoming students cannot request which room they want for the upcoming academic year.

The room selection process system is set to allow current (rising second-year) students to select their room based on available space. The specific spaces that are available for selection will be available in early April 2025.

No, because of our limited singles on campus and the specific needs of some students with accommodations as approved by the Department of Accessibility Services, we hold singles until August 1. Based on available space, we will offer unused singles to students on the single room waitlist. More information about the waitlist will be emailed to students upon completion of the housing selection process in April 2025.

Our system is set up where you must complete and submit your housing application before you can select your desired roommate(s). Once you submit your completed housing application, go into MyHousing and click on the "Room and Roommate" button located on the left side menu bar. From there, choose the "Select Roommates” button, and change the term on the following page to Fall 2025. You will be able to start the process to select your roommate. You will have until you select your space to select a roommate to be able to match one another and be housed in the same room.

In order to match with a roommate, you and your desired roommate must complete and submit the housing application. You will also need to enter your desired roommate's first name, last name, and email address in the correct fields under the Simple Roommate Search section of the Roommate Requests page. Clicking "Begin Search" will send the request to your roommate.

You will receive a notification on your MyHousing page if someone has requested you to be their roommate. Please login to MyHousing to review those requests and either accept or decline.

In order for a person to be eligible for roommate matching (to be selected as a roommate), the person must complete a housing application. After the desired roommate completes the housing application and submits it, the person's name will be available for roommate selection. Make sure your desired roommate completed the correct housing application.

Email RES@emory.edu. Specific instructions will be sent to those students who have housing accommodations as approved by the Department of Accessibility Services

The university has a process for students to request reasonable accommodations with the Department of Accessibility Serivces. Please use this link to visit the DAS website for more information regarding the process for requesting academic and housing related accommodations. Please note the university requires disability documentation and staff will meet with you to discuss disability barriers. If you register for and receive a housing accommodation with the Department of Accessibility Services, then we will work to meet the approved recommendation. DAS determines which students receive housing accommodations and reports their recommendations to us. From there, we will make room assignments or changes based on space available in housing. More information about the registration process can be found here: http://accessibility.emory.edu/students/new-to-oas/index.html. The page will outline what you need to submit to be considered for a housing accommodation.

The purpose of the Housing Wait List is to provide students the opportunity to request a different assignment prior to their arrival for the Fall semester.  The waitlist is only for students who participated in the Fall Housing Room selection process during the Spring semester. You will need to login to your myhousing account, click on the "Room and Roommate" button, and then click on Housed Students Waitlist. You can place yourself on as many waitlists as you would like.

We plan to use the following method/order in regards to assignments from the Summer Wait List:

  • Request Week – we will go in order of the week the student requested the new assignment when making accommodations
  • Room selection process  Time – we will go in order of room selection process  time when making accommodations
  • Matched status – we will do our best to keep requested roommates together

We will start accepting requests at the end of the room selection process.  We will not accept any requests prior to the end of the room selection process.

We hope to start assigning from the waitlist after August 1st.

We will contact student(s) when we offer the potential new assignment.  Student(s) will have about 24 hours to respond with their decision.  If the student(s) accepts the new assignment, the re-assignment will occur immediately.  If the student(s) rejects the new assignment or fails to respond by the stated deadline, we will offer the assignment to the next student(s) in the order stated above.

Again, there is no guarantee that all students on the wait list will receive their requests. After this date, students will have to participate in the Room Change/Swap process if they desire to change their assignment.

Why YES! It is always our desire to make changes in the halls to improve student's quality of life. We look forward to your return in the fall semester to share those exciting changes with you.

No, we feel that it is beneficial to have all students living together regardless of class status.

Co-ed and single-gender floors are available at Oxford. There are single-gender floors in JRC and Haygood. Fleming Hall, Elizer Hall, and Murdy Hall are co-ed halls. Co-ed halls consist of both male and female students staying next to one another. We also offer Gender-Inclusive housing (bedrooms with students of any gender living as roommates). In all co-ed floors, there are both male and female bathrooms. In the Gender-Inclusive housing community, students of any gender can use either restroom.
